Thanks gstuart. Carpets are generally dry, well they are now. I have big rubber mats down so wouldn't have noticed previously.
When it happens I am getting a red triangle, but then it goes away and comes back, so it could be a a broken wire that's reconnecting / breaking. The fact that it is more frequent now means it can hopefully be pinpointed.
No indication of why sometimes it's bricked and no ignition and why sometimes it starts either - but that could indicate battery also?
Re the battery it's not struggling when starting, but I have no means of testing the load but the RAC will do that as a first step I guess. Also the alternator seems to be charging when tested, but again it's an intermittent issue but who knows. I have a feeling I will end up paying for lots of 'maybe' fixes.
Must admit I am out of my depth with this, just praying that it can be fixed and I won't be left with a bill that's more than it's worth. Annoyingly put 4 new tyres on it before this trip so extra cost if its a write off
ur so welcome and indeed always a forums team effort , thks for the DTC codes as that does help
so from those been going through all the files/ manuals etc I have and found this technical notice that maybe a garage might find useful
TECHNICAL BULLETIN LTB00643NAS1/ 25 FEB 2014
SECTION: 414-01
Battery Charge Warning Lamp On With DTC B11DB-87 Stored
alas it may just be a red herring but wished to at least share it with u in case it’s relevant , so from that
On the positive battery terminal you should have 3 cables. One goes to the starter/alternator, one to the main fuse box next to the battery and a small single cable which connects the BMM. Check the continuity of the single cable as these sometimes break inside the sheathing.
U codes can normally be ignored
so indeed would double check that the battery currently fitted is correct , if ur unsure and wouldn’t mind sending me a PM plse with ur reg number and vin I can look into this further for u
also think the TCM module needs to be looked at to ensure the pins are ok and no water ingress, but think we need to ensure that BMS wire is 100% ok before going any further and never know it might just be the wire breaking down within the conduit
shame ur not closer as have a few testers , ie similar Autel code reader from ur pic, a gap iid and various clamp / multimeters etc , would have been more than happy to see if I could find the error FOC for u
hope that helps and will dig deeper for u if thats ok to send me the reg and vin number plse in order I can double check things , mainly so u have as much data as possible for any garage
also posted ur screenshot here for u
