Hi Guys
My dad has a Disco 2 an his alloys have started to peel an look a bit worse for wear. He's been offered a set of disco 3 alloys. Will they fit or are they different offsets etc?
Thanks in advance!
Rob

Am i right in thinking the 3 has a different PCD? Any idea who makes the addapters that would mean they fitted?

look on ebay if you really really want spacers. But they're ****e, dangerous and if you don't inform your insurance company will invalidate his Insurance.

Much easier to just buy a set of D2/P38 alloys.

Arn`t the disco 3 wheels the same as the range rover 3 and sport?
If so then all thats required is the right nuts and spigot rings.

I don't think my dad will take the option on the disco3 wheels if spacers are req. They were offered free but he likes things just right an safe. Thanks all for your help.

Yes and that's why it needs spacers AKA Spigot Rings??? dangerous expensive and a voided insurance, if you don't inform them. as stated above.

I told my insurance when i fitted mk3 rr wheels to my p38 with spiggot rings and they wern`t intrested. I do think spacers are dangerous (the type that makes the wheel sit out further) but personally spiggot rings i cant see why they would be, as they sit on the center of the hub and can`t really go anywhere. where as the spacers can put a lot of extra pressure on the wheel bearings. I kept the mk 3 wheels and they will be going on my disco for the winter

Try telling that to the lad who watched his rear wheel over take him on the motorway after the hub nuts on the spigot ring came loose.. There's a thread on here somewhere.

Hub nuts on the spiggot ring?? are we talking about the same thing?
The spiggot ring is just that an aluminium or nylon ring.

yeah we must be I'm thinking adaptor plates to suit different stud spacings thought the D3 had a different PCD to the D2's hence the need for an adaptor??

No were talking about diffrent things.
I completely agree with you about adapter plates they are dangerous. Spigot rings just make up the diffrence between the piece on the hub that sticks out as the mk 3 wheels have a slightly larger center, (i think its around 2mm)
These are some spigot rings for a range Rover P 38 on eBay (end time 18-Aug-10 07:41:52 BST)
The rane rover guys swear by them and there has never been any problems reported as far as i know, i have also used them and my dad has them on at the moment.

WOW not I'm confused! Lol. Will he need an adapter which would use 2 sets of nuts to make the wheels fit or a ring to make the wheel locate on the hub centrely using original nuts and hub?

Done some checking and the disco 3 wheels are the same as the range rover 3 and sport so they will fit, but they have to have the correct wheel nuts (disco 3 nuts) to suit the wheels. The spigot rings are also required or they will vibrate.
If you are going to get spigot rings go for the aluminium ones the plastic ones can get damaged easy when removing and replacing the wheels.
Another thing i did when using the aluminium rings is smear some copper slip on the inner and outer faces of the rings to stop them sticking to the hub or wheel, and remember if you are carrying the original disco 2 spare to carry a set of wheel nuts to suit that wheel.
All the best
