Hi All, have been looking on here since I bought my TD5 and loads of stuff is really useful, However, I got a new one for you.
just come back after a week away with my disco sat outside my house, locked. the fob wont open the door and, if I put the key in (never used the key lock since I had it) and it seems like there is no barrel in there at all so the key moves easily forward and back...
so, heeelp.. anyone any ideas other than half a house brick to access my car..
have changed the battery on the fob but to no avail. would someone who can create remote keys be able to access.???? good job its not winter and I need it !!!
any clues anyone

Also,

To double check is the little light on the fob lighting up when you press the button?

Are you sure the battery in the car is not dead? it can be boosted by using the stater motor connection from underneath.

Cheers

Hi Neilly, fortunately I have a spare key, unfortunately that didn't work either !!! my nice little red light is flashing as normal when locked..

will have a look at that link...

A hail mary pass, might be to stand right up by the rear sunroof and press the button on the fob.
As long as the red light is showing on the fob when pressed.

Cheers

think the neighbours think ive gone mad standing on the back of my truck in the street... anyhow.. tried both remote keys, the light comes on when you press either but to no avail..
little red light is flashing at me on the dash as if its taking the P*ss...
I take it if I force entry I can stop the alarm by putting key in the ignition?? is that a good assumption or not? not sure what method to use for forced entry.. try and hook the button up with something maybe..
a tad frustrating is this ...

If it is superlocked then you will not be able to unlock by hooking the locking tab.

It will get noisy if you break in, Without the EKA it will not drive and if the monkey metal bar is broken you will not be able to enter the code anyways.

I have honestly never tried to open set the alarm off and see if it silences when the key is entered in the ignition. Only one way to find out....LOL

Cheers

thanks for the response.. I got to go and work away again in about an hour so, decided not to create a civil disturbance until next week end :):)
be back next weekend for another exiting episode..
i'll let you know what happens.. looking forward to it aleady.. lol...

You could try using the key right up close to the top of the centre of the windscreen. Even give the roof a whack with your hand as usually the earth lead is the issue with the received for the RF module. Might just get it working enough for you to get in and solve the problem.

well. so heres the update.. after being frustrated.. banging near the sunroof climbing all over the vehicle drawing several weird gazes from the neighbours I decided to bite the bullet and got locksmith to come out.
now, the reason for the update is not only and end to a story but a bit of info.. seems you were correct that the vehicle when locked is definitely dead locked. no amount of pulling on the handle with wire will help you get in, however, if ,while the lock smith is trying to air bag the door anyway he inadvertently sets the alarm off. so does no more but to then press the key fob and, hey presto, silence and the door locks open. completely reset the fob access and my spare key now works too as I tried a new battery in it before.
so, me thinks I could have done that myself but, had no idea what was going to happen when the alarm went off.

so, now have also found the water leak too as I got the engine compartment open. any idea what the little tiny hose is called that connects the metal pipe from the back of the passenger side of the engine with what I think ( I may be wrong) is the oil cooler. it only seems to be an inch or so and the gap it spans seems only about half an inch max

Think it goes without saying, but get the drivers door lock mechanism sorted asap

As for the pipe, your description doesn't help too much but a picture would if you can get one.

spot on Neilly.. that's the diagram ive been trying to find.. just need to buy one of them.. who do you get your parts from?

A variety of places, depending on whatit is and how much I need,

for something like this I would probably search ebay to avoid the £5 shipping most charge for a sub £50 order.
Otherwise LR direct are good, JGS4x4, Island 4x4, everyone has their favourites.

Best is if you can find one local then you get ot know the guys behind the counter and on the phone.
