People have been asking what a Disco can do on fuel.

Last Wednesday I drove mine from here (Scotland) to Surrey, dodged about for 150 miles for four days, and drove back home via a village near Hull.

Total miles run ------ 962
Total fuel used ------122 litres (Full tank, then add 60 litres and filled again same pump as start)

962 miles for 26.83 gallons of diesel, 35.8 miles per gallon.

There is no doubt it managed just over FORTY miles per gallon on the run south, but not quite as much on the way north. That will be because it's downhill all the way from here to Surrey, but uphill all the way back.

I arrived at Surrey with 415 miles run, and the fuel gauge still showing well over half a tank left!

Just towed my caravan from Lewes, East Sussex to Ilfracombe North Devon 285 miles cost £50 each way, the same run last year in a Pajero cost £70 and that was running in 2wd, so i dont think Discos are that bad on fuel.

Last weekend I used £60 worth driving from the Wirral to Buxton, 'round the area a little bit for 2 days, and back.

Did have 4 people, a boot full (and I mean FULL) and an exped rack full too though. And it's an auto. And going there, we went the 'scenic' rount past the Cat & Fiddle (where my gearbox temp warning came on AGAIN!! Why can't TD5 auto boxes handle a laden disco on the hills  )

I'm sure my gearbox sounds whiney now. I need to change the oil but I've not built up the courage to tackle it yet :(
