Can you mate the defender manifold and turbo to a discovery unit? as the discovery unit has the seats for an AirCon system and the mounts can change for series defender engine leg mont system?

i also thought that the defender was NOT availible or legible for A/C i would like to know the points for change and also if disco engines can become Defender lookalikes,

I yam a bit

The Air conn is on the other side of the block to the inlet manifold, so it wont be affected.

Why would yu like it to "look like" a defender engine?

Im sure you could get air con on the 3 series so must have been an option on the 200tdi defender.
See pdf link below pages 201 to 204

Cheapest option has got to be disco engine with defender manifolds this will give you the look and more importantly the air con pump mounts on the disco timing case, bit of pipework for the pas pump and thats it i would guess.

Just thinking aloud im sure i have read that you can drill the 200 defender timing chest to take a 200 tdi disco air con compressor.

well the studs are there arnt they, so i supose you can drill-tap-diy, so its always that option, my friend had a executive model literally the top of the range model and only two or so made? and he didn't have the a/c on his and that was the last of the Lreg 200tdi's as it was a police one aswell? anyway that isnt a bad point.

the head is almost identicle? apart from the above listing, also the 200 DEFENDER unit i thought that the turbo is high sat but do the manifolds sit the same way as i dont have one infront of me to spec?

Old post i know but just read it, to fit defender manifolds to a disco engine you will need to bear in mind that the timing casings, front and rear will need changing as will the injector pipes from the pump as the pump is moved further from the block on a defender, the thermostat housing, and the alternator as on a discovery its mountings are on the timing casing but not on the defender.
What puzzles me is the 200tdi was developed and fitted to the disco and available from 1989 so why some 2 or 3 years later when they became available in the defender did landrover feel it needed changing so much when clearly the disco engine will fit straight in to the fender???
i opted for buying a bare disco engine as a replacement for my knackered fender one thinking it would be a straight swap, like for like, rather than fitting a very good 300 engine i had sitting in a scrap disco, thinking it would save messing fitting a new engine mount and altering the exhaust. Not a quick change over.
