Hi all,

living in Malaysia landy parts cost a bomb so I'll be importing my own bits (in a suitcase) following a trip back to the UK. Can anyone let me know what things are most likely to go wrong with an early TD5 so I can get a few spares ready.

From my experience with a previous V8 Disco 1 I'm guessing fuel pump should be on the list... any other common ones? (I've already replaced the starter and fuel pressure reg so they should be OK!)

Cheers

Think you have already stolen my thunder there by mentioning the fuel pump, that would have been number 1 for me.

What about a replacement hub, couple of ABS sensors, fuel pressure regulator and injector wiring harness?

Just a few suggestions

SP ;)

yeah that sounds spot on mate! go with that.

add the MAF sensor, brake pads ,thermostat, propshaft u joints, fan belt, filters (air fuel oil) if its on air bags then two of them , injector seals and copper washers, if its an automatic then a filter kit , if maual then clutch cylinder repair kits , turbo boost soleinoid and intercooler hoses(go with silicone if you can) ,
these are just a few of the things i remember

rear door hinges, locks, rear fuel pump, shocks, relays, spare ecu. the list is endless. Had to have most things replaced on my disco 2's. Front prop shaft etc!

Thanks Chaps. That should do me for this trip - I've only got economy baggage allowance. Now must practice the pokerface for customs!

Cheers

 cmon guys.. how big do you think his suitcase is...:D

The list i suppose is endless.... but i suppose from your point of view, i would just stick to the things that are most likely to fail and that are difficult for you to get at home.... good luck with your shopping

There are some good 2nd hand buys, but beware, i have noticed that you can buy genuine landrover stuff just as cheaply as some, just do your homework first and you'll be fine.

If it has air suspension, a pair of air bags would be a good idea if no evidence of them being changed. 160 bills for 2 from paddocks.

Definitely want to get yourself a front camshaft oil seal as well, you can get one for under £10, and come in handy when the oil starts coming out!

.... definitely airfreightable would be a couple of o-rings for the fuel cooler too. (BS225 I think); good luck with the poker face!
