Hi
I went to look at v8 disco 2000 thats for sale earlier today,I really liked it and may buy it.I checked it over after reading on this forum what problems to look out for.I read Battenberg's article on the rear suspension really good, but does any one have any more infomation on the fob that lowers the rear end below normal,ie how much lower ,where can I buy one[I have looked on ebay with out success] can the car be moved [slowly] and whats involved in programming it?.

I bought a new one recently from Ebay, it must come with the bar code otherwise it can't be programmed to your vehicle according to dealers I spoke too.
I paid £50 odds for it believe they are around £96 from a dealer plus programming.
I paid an independent £30 to programme.
I take it you know they are only for discos with air suspension.
It is used for hitching and unhitching from the tow bar. I bought it coz I've done my back a few times trying to get a trailer off the tow bar.
I don't think you can drive with the suspension lowered.
It drops around 4 - 6 inches with the remote.
hope this helps

That was quick biggeeeee very helpfull ,yes its got air suspension like you
ideal for hitching and also it will make it easier for the dogs to get in and out.Ill ring Greytech tomorow see if they can get one and programme it
or do you think its main dealer only?. Thanks

Any independent who has land rover diagnostic software, think it was Rovacom or something similar.
Believe I didn't go to a main dealer coz they wanted the minimum 1 hour labour charge (£80) to programme, the job takes no more than 5 mins.

I have learned thru using the remote all doors must be closed including tailgate and also the ignition must be on for it to operate.

Lowering the suspension is great for loading and unloading heavy items, the remote has been one of the best additions I've bought for the discovery and I'm on my third (discovery not remote)

It really is the doggies whatsits

Thanks for the information Biggeeeee ,once you have closed the doors and lowered
the suspension is it ok to open the doors to load and unload with out the suspension
rising ?.That might sound a stupid question, I am trying to explain to the wife how
the fob will work.

Once you start driving the vehicle will self level. 15/20mph i think. Best thing for getting under tow hitches that have sunk in the mud.
