Hi

Have a genuine LR dog guard and fitting kit for Disco 2, 5 seater. I have found fiitting instructions on the net, but I don't have the template to locate the threaded insert or captive nut behind the trim. The threaded insert is also used for the rear compartment grab handle. Does anyone have a template they can scan and email to me, or maybe take an accurate location measurement from another couple of reference poiints, so I can drill the hole in the plastic trim in the right place. thanks email is bob.turner@clix.pt

Hi Bob, I had the same issue as you. I bought my dog guard from ebay with all the bits but no instructions... check out this guy's website, he's a veritable mine of useful info, with an accesory fitting guide. He's at www.discovery2.co.uk - Discovery 2 Accessory Fitting Guides . And if it's any use, here's some refs from my install...from the side window you should be putting your first hole at 8.5cm in. (let's call it the x axis) If you hold a straight edge up from the recess where your bin / dickie seat lives (parallell with the rear seat back, measure approx 5 cm in towards front of vehicle, (y axis). However, I just hung the dog guard from it's top mounts, fitted the bottom retaining lugs to both the guard and the retaining plate you need to fit so it was all one unit the held a small spirit level on the vertical and marked with a pen. Crude, I know but was spot on and never rattles. Oh, one more thing, getting the teeny-weeny nuts underneath the retaining plate screws is an absolute b***ch!

Thanks for your reply. Not sure if i have interpeted this right, as I have a hole with do captive nut behind it. Let's call this a ventilation hole

Could you give a measurment from the edge of the alarm sensor towards the rear of the vehicle, and maybe from the top of the alarm sensor down or up. I think maybe the hole should be on the centre axis of the alarm sensor runing from the front to back of the vehicle. I know there is only a sensor on the drivers side, but I can mirror this across.

Hi Bob,

From what you asked for I think you must have a different type of dog guard. Mine anchors at the top of each side into the hole provided by the mounting that replaces the grab handle for the 3rd row seats... and at the bottom it's just next to my 3rd row audio controls, or the seatbelt aperture if you don't have the controls.
