Someone more expert than me will advise but might be a good idea to liase with Ashcroft transmissions, as fitting a V8 torque convertor with their modified kit is supposed to transform the driving experience on these vehicles. I'd love to convert mine but it's low miles and rarely out so I can't justify it.
 
Are you saying the engine, gearbox or just in general?

Does the D2 need adaptive settings reset when major mechanical work/changes has been done?

Update changed auto box now running very lumpy and do want to idle any ideas have I done something wrong lol
If you replaced the box you have to reset addaptive values with nanocom or similar before you go further
