On all other locks i turn key and lock pops perfectly. But drivers side if you turn the key it seems stiff as in it does not flick back and sometimes have to leave the key fully turned hold it while i open the door then just pull it up inside and it holds.

any ideas what it could be

Worn key barrel or just the lack of lubrication or will have to investigate the linkage etc after removing the door card.

the springs is broken, look on ebay for disco lock springs, fiddly job but do-able. there are threads on here somewhere about em as always :search:

If it is, there's a 'sticky' on how to replace it at the top of threads in this forum.

Top job cheers chaps. Off to the spring shop haha.
