Hi, The early disco 2s weren't fitted with centre diff lock as L/R decided that traction control was sufficient, I have been told that the basic linkage is still fitted to the transfer box. Can anyone confirm this please.

Hi,mine is a Wreg 2000 V8 iv'e not been under yet so I'm not sure.Yes, I can confirm this, does your particular vehicle have it fitted? No idea.
Thank you.Do a search there is lots of info on here about it.
However, See link;

ThankyouOf the 3 W reg D2's I have had the good chance to lay under, all 3 had the diff lock included in the tbox. But not the lever to the cab.
Cheers
ThankyouEarlier than March 2001 should have the Diff Lock internals inside the transfer box.

As an afterthought it may be worth adding " diff lock internals should be in the transfer box if the car was registered before March 2001 AND the transfer box is still original" - as it's possible on cars so old that the box has been changed.
Check for the operating spigot as stated on the discovery2 website info. If it's not there, you're out of luck.
yes ive done it a few times, you need the gear box top if manual or use the auto bracket from a d1 or rrc if yours is autoWe're looking at activating the diff lock on a V-reg disco 2. Rather than hacking around the existing transfer lever, could we just swap the relevant linkage parts from a wrecked disco 1?
i may have a few kicking aboutDonor vehicle is a 300tdi manual, but the disco2 is automatic just to make things awkward...
