Hi folks ,
Bought a wading kit off gwynlewis 4×4 had trouble removing old gearbox breather joint so had to disconnect the arm that engages high/low diff lock & loosen the pinch bolt that secures it to the splines (stupidly didn't mark position on splines before removing) anyways difflock sideways movement engages but high/low forward & back lever won't move ,as if its to tight tried different positions on splines still no joy.
Any ideas or anyone had this problem

On the wading plug that goes into the bottom of the bell housing

I have had 1 instance where I sat in the deep water - at door window level stuff - for a few minutes

wading plug was in but the bell housing isn't sealed so water got in up to clutch plate level and then didn't flow out

Things sounded strange and I undid the wading plug only to find a couple of litres of water coming out

no damage done though

If you have the full wading kit , what did you do with the gasket on timing belt cover leave on , take off or make a hole in it where breather is ?

I fitted a breather to the inspection cover(circular plate on front of timing cover) that way I knew all was still sealed & could remove pipe work when doing other work.

mine is a D1 so that "breather hole " is covered by a plate with a bearing on it for the aircon belt tensioner

not sure if this is the answer you were looking for
