Hi

As still a noobie to the landrover world I want to know if all discovery 300 tdi's have diff lock?

The signs on mine are obvious I.e a sticker with diff lock on it.

I have been told that the td5 had limited slip diffs and with mine being a 1999 300 it may have those.

I'm pretty sure that mine is ultimately seized up. But thought I would ask as to be honest I don't have a clue as of yet.

Also can you tell if you are already in diff lock (I know about the light on the dash it's not on) I get a whine at about 45 mph probably unrelated but thought I'd ask

Thanks in advance

Just for your info; your vehicle is a Discovery I, TDi 300, 4 cylinder diesel. TD5 is a Discovery II, with a 5 cylinder diesel engine and as std do not have limited slip diffs, they have Traction Control.

By using the abs............ a cheap attempt for a locking rear diff

In theory traction control is excellent, the problem is that you have to get stuck before it works, and you still don't have full time 4 wheel drive available, you could get down to one wheel drive!
