My 2.5 dt RR makes a new knocking noise.
It sounds kind of like a slapping, increases in tempo whan revved, it sounds to be coming from the top end towards the front.
I looked around the injectors and one has some oil around it that spilled and ran down, when it is running air bubbles appear in the oil around the injector.
Several local people have given an opinion,(big end bearing, timing out, injector knock) but none are RR people so can anyone help who knows these cars?

Hard to diagnose engine noises on a forum, could you give a bit more info on the condition/mileage of the engine?

Air bubbles forming around the injector doesn't sound good though!

remember its a bmw engine and used in the omega doozel too!

Just sold mine same problem told me big ends as owner before me never changed oil and oil went like tar only owned it 1 day gutted

Are you sure this is not diesel that is leaking from a ruptured spill off pipe. Diesel knock is caused by air in the injector pipes. Air will be being drawn into the fuel system if the spill pipe is broken.
