Hi, we're doing a route this weekend (Wales to home via Derbyshire, already full, sorry) and have been checking routes. I know Bamford Clough is now a Byway and doesn't have a TRO on it, but last time I saw it, it had a road works on it, which I believe is something to do with mains electrickery. Does anyone know if this has fnished and the Clough is open yet?

I'm a Glass rep, and I've used Trailwise and Derbyshire websites for TRO's, road closures etc and none mention it at all, so I'm hoping it's open, but would prefer to know so we can slightly adjust the route to suit.

Cheers .. :)

It was still closed a couple of weeks ago but I've not been past since then, however it was supposed to be reopened at the beginning of September so I may have to pop over and have a look. There is always Hurstclough Lane up by the golf club, not as spectacular as Bamford Clough but quite tricky at the moment due to water erosion.

I thought you might have an idea, thanks .. :)

Yeah, Hurstclough is on the route but I recalled from somewhere that September was the opening of Bamford Clough, just couldn't find any definite evidence. Easy enough to miss out anyway if necessary. :)

Just been to check and it's still closed. The road to it is now passable but the fences and road closed signs are still at the bottom of the lane. More worrying is the sign at the top...

There is a lot of local opposition to the lane being reopened to vehicles, and some very very expensive houses at the bottom, so I wouldn't be surprised to see a permanent TRO placed on it either before it reopens or shortly after!

Thanks for that .. jeez ... not good. I'll pass this photo on to the Glass Derbyshire rep if you don't mind, see if we can't get some pressure to bear!
