I'm a £10.00 at a time man. :D I don't believe in lugging around all that extra weight of fuel, more weight = less MPG...At least thats my excuse for being a tight arse. :D
i prefer to call myself frugal:).
also, if my disco gets nicked, i aint paying for the b******s joy ride.

I work in a garage mate I drain sumps into a 25ltr can then poor it straight in i don't filter it at all. Only problem i've ever had is block my fuel filter on my escort van swapped it and it was fine again. I just keep a spare filter in the disco incase.

Summer £20 of diesel and 50ltrs of oil. 300 ish miles

winter £20 of diesel and 25ltrs of oil = 200 miles

Smokes on start up and when left to idle for a while but when driving its not that noticable tbh.

This sounds good i own my own garage but at the moment me heaters using most of my old oil but i think i'll have to try this

I've only ever been pulled by plod and they just siphon a bit up in their clear plastic pipe. Mind you that is in Wales, a bit behind over there!

Never been dipped, but i saw on tv a bloke did and said he was running on oil. The copper said oil would be fine but they wanted to analyse it because people use oil to disguise the red.

In my eyes it's recycling lol and if fuel wasn't such a rip off price then maybe i'd just run diesel.

I run 3dr cosworth track/drift car so they get more than enough fuel duty from me anway!

What's the fines for running on red these days?

peeps get away with it up here, but Staffs was instant confiscation of vehicle and a back tax bill based on the estimated mileage (believe they use previous years MOT mileage figure for the calculation)

How can they gauge how many litres have been used?

say 10k miles at approx 25 mpg (underestimated rather than over) = 400 gallons x 4.55 (to convert it to litres) = 1820 x £1.22 (price per litre) = £2220.

So they would bill you for approx 75% of that figure which would mean £1665.30 per year for every year you've owned the vehicle unless you can provide receipts to prove otherwise.

If you get dipped your car will be impounded until you cough up the fine.
They would not crush your car.
The fine is a on the spot fine of about 600 pounds.
Using sump oil as fuel is illegal because there has not be any duty paid on it.
People mention about a sniffer but that a load of bollocks.

The must important thing about using oil engine oil as a fuel in a diesel is when its burnt it makes a fine white ash which is ABRASIVE and will wear the piston rings out.
