Hi,
Whereabouts should I be expecting the needle to sit at operating temp on this model of gauge?
Just think my 200 might be running a bit hot,it's always gone up until

the needle is just in the gap.
Thanks

Pop in a new engine temp sensor and see if it makes a difference. Mine went wild before committing suicide.

My 200tdi reaches about 82’c then the thermostat opens, which equates to 3/4 of the white band

Much the same as my 200, seems to sit quite happily at the top of the white, just a bit cooler than the width of the needle before the start of the gap if that makes any sense.

Think mine's has an 88.c thermostat,is that wrong?
Thanks
I don’t know if it’s right or wrong, I prefer mine to run a little cooler as it’s only really used off road So not much air flow through the rad. I’ve fitted a switchable electric fan to help things cool.

Hi Jon,
Mine registered hot intermittently for ages and never felt particularly so.
Eventually, I tracked the problem to the Earth lead from the sump to the chassis. It looked in place but when I tried it, was loose and did not provide constant contact.
I suggest you investigate that; rule out the easy before contemplating the difficult!

Sorry jonlad, I addressed my post to yo by mistake. I should, of course, typed Defender 91

Sorry for not replying,I didn't see all the responses.
Gauge still isn't here,I ordered what I thought was the right sender, but that's come and the resistance readings don't tie in with what VDO listed so need to change that.
I'll update once I've got the gauge.
Thanks

Gauge turned up,I rigged it up with the sender and a battery and checked it in a saucepan first, read about 3.c low at all points. Fitted it to the landy,so far haven't driven far but hasn't gone over 92.c accounting for the gauge error, so turns out it was me making a fuss out of nothing.
Thanks for all the help.
