The rear box will have a interior light facing the front and one facing the rear.

the plate that drops down will have switches for roof lights, driving lights...whatever anyone wants, can even put a fag lighter in there lol

maybe could have done it slightly smaller, as there's more than enough room to do the wiring in there, but this was a first design anyway.

as it is, there's loads of room for middle passenger.

Sounds fantastic, I am eager to see how you get on :)

And if you are thinking of selling these in the future, like I mentioned you are very welcome if you need some product photography :)

No updates for any work done on the console, but went to what I thought was a breakers in Reading and it was a Polish garage... why it shows on the internet as car dismantlers fok knows..

anywhoooo.....they had 2 cars that were going to the scrapyard, so I removed the boot light off a Toyota people carrier and the front light off a rover.... cost? zero! top bloke, said just take it..

the light from the rover is brilliant as it has a main central light and 2 reading lights that move around like an eye

Also got cable from Maplins to rewire the head unit to the roof

Im still a bit puzzled on how to hold the radio and CB to the shelft so it doesnt bounce around..

my idea is something like this:

photo13-1.jpg

So, something like a 'T' shape with a threaded bolt as the middle, going through the shelf and then a wing nut or something to clamp the radio and CB down onto the shelf....

any other ideas? i just thought this one very quickly lol

could you fix eyelet hooks on the insides and use those elastic straps for luggage on roof racks or a webbing strap with a ratchet clamp to tighten?

Can you fix in and bastardise a DIN E housing - the plastic ones that you cabn but to fix CD/Radio players under dashboard? Just mount it upside down?

Your roof console is looking really good, what are you planning to finish it with? paint, leather cloth? I suppose the possibilities are endless.

what rover did it come from mate? looks like what i'm after to go in the old 90 (never had a interior light in that 1 :D)

it looked like an old Rover 214, but im not too sure now, looked on ebay and cant find any interior lights for one...

almost sure it was a 214.. it was pretty damaged but looked like one

Not much done today as I was in the garage till midnight last night working on a mates bike.

Today only cut the holes for the interior lights, had to bend some brackets to hold one of the lights, drilled the holes for the bottom plate and put some bolts through it...

So when you start making them for the whole of loonyzone is the bottom plate going to be interchangeable so you can plates made up to suit each persons needs? A bit like the plates on a raptor dash?

That's a very good idea!

also the other design I have in mind is not having that draw sticking out at the back, but for it to be flush with the sides.

but yeh, those plates could have different configurations to accomodate different number of switches, or a light or something like that

yep! No work! :D
handed my resignation in on the 11 of Jan and been put on garden leave till the 17th Feb, my last day.

Start new job on Monday, which is actually back to my previous employer that I left in 2010.

yep, I have one of those, but the back end of the radio would still be bouncing about i think..

and i would still be left with how to fix the cb...

i know what you mean, so the console is not as wide? as it stand is 13" wide
