Bluedog. Have you hot any photos of the job complete please. You certainly did open a can of worms.
I lost interest in taking photos towards the end! This one shows the driver's side patched up ( rotten metal cut out first! ).

Like a d*ckhead, I bought the wrong colour paint, but I ran out of time so I slapped it on anyway, I was too ashamed to photograph the final result!
Wings on that Ninety look fine to me.

Maybe something like an Ex Mod Tdi 90 might suit your needs better?
A CSW is full of seats, trim , carpet and paint you wont want to scratch, with an Ex Mod you can open the door and hose them out.

Exactly what I do with mine :D

Good job Bluedog. Looks a tidy repair. I see you can get whole patches for the hinge. .
The YRM repair panels are probably the most popular, heavier gauge than original so should last a while. They come like this :

but it's only necessary to replace the rotten metal, so you cut them down to shape.
It's a very common problem and repair on older Landies ( and some newer ones too! ), perfectly repairable, but definitely a consideration when agreeing a price.
Here's the amazing repair to the passenger side!...

I know you're thinking " what colour difference? ", but if you look very closely the blues don't match :D
When I get time, it'll get taken back to metal, filled and painted properly! At least the rot should be halted.

Do the patches come with the internal strengthening for the hinge?
No, but if you need to you can weld an off-cut on the rear and drill out holes to suit ( although on anything Ninety/OneTen/Defender, the windscreen won't ever be hinged down, so no real need for it to be strengthened ), unless you've got and MoD Landy, which you may have?

No, but it is a rag top with a fold down screen, TD5 bulkhead put on back when they cost a couple of hundred quid new. Ive often wondered why people don't drill a small hole just above the top door hinge to periodically inject with oil or wax, then cover with a blanking grommet.
I might have a look at that tomorrow.

Good idea. I've seen hinges tapped and fitted with grease nipples before. Didn't like the look to be honest, but would do the job.
