Hi Guys

New to the forum, so excuse me if this has been covered before:

I have a 110 300 TDI Station Wagon, bought new in 1996.

It's been an excellent workhorse, but like the owner it's looking and feeling a bit tired.

Rather than part exchange it for a pittance, does anyone know of a firm that would refurbish the old girl at reasonable cost and in a reasonable time frame, with a view to getting another 14 years use?

South East is my location, but I'd be happy to travel to find the right firm.

Is the chassis and bulkhead in good order? If so then are you just wanting to improve it's looks?

You can easily do the latter yourself. For the interior you can buy new seats, carpets, mats, headliner etc. For the exterior maybe a full respray (colour change?) with new alloy wheels, front grill & head light surrounds, perhaps new wing mirrors and door handles.

This is exactly what I'm doing to my 1996 110 300tdi, including changing the colour to Bonatti Grey, with Brunel silver front grill and headlight surrounds.

It's recent - one of the latest episodes.

I actually bought my first 110 off the same trader they featured in that, Yanthelandyman from eBay. :)

Were you a satisfied customer though?

Reasonably. I knew jack all about them at the time, so I think I got off pretty lucky with it. I can't actually remember looking at the chassis, or the bulkhead, or even glancing at the rear X-member when viewing it

The only thing I actually took a look at was the 19j engine, which blew up 3 months later :D

Aside from that though it's been great, and I still have it (albeit with 200 Tdi power) so I can't really complain. :)

If you're South-East based it might be worth having a chat with Challenger 4x4. I was recommended them by someone on this forum and found them very helpful.

They're near Farnborough, if they're not interested in doing it they might be able to point you in the direction of someone who is.

I contacted them about getting some work done on my Ninety - in the end I decided to do the work myself, but they were very helpful on the phone and had a really nice attitude. If there was a job I couldn't handle myself, I think they'd be on my list of places to visit.
