Hi. i'm new to this forum. I've got a defender 90 j reg with a knackered engine and have been offered a defender 300tdi engine from a 1997 model. Will this be ok to fit without too many differences? Also there is a 200tdi engine on offer from a disco would that be ok too?

You probably wont have space to fit them both...i'd go for the defender 300...and sell the disco engine, they get good money if fine.

Storm's right again I'm afraid, you definately won't have room for both engines ... you would probably need two Defenders and then you could put one in each!

:welcome2:

You make it sound like a seldom occurrence :confused:

I reckon you'll get away with one defender, and one discovery, ;););)
You'll have to check with Storm though as he appears to be right about stuff at the min:p:p:p:p:D

Yeah I guess you're right there, makes me a little nervous if Storm's coming to town as there isn't room for all this 'being right too often' nonsense round here! :D:D

Oh yes ... do you think you'd need to remove the existing engine before fitting the two new ones? All sounding like more than an hours work now

Mmm not to sure on that would have to take some measurments maybe remover inner arches ??

You Could remove the exsiting engine,

Put the 300tdi in the front driving the front wheels
and the 200tdi in the rear tub driving rear wheels.... it would need a little bit of modification but not much...... :p

Agree ingenious Sam - and like certain German cars, the weight distribution would be balanced:D

Would also solve the issue many of us have of cold cabins in winter:D:D:D

Indeed i think cornering ability would improve dramtically with the even weight distribution and the lower center of gravity.:p

Im sure if you mounted the second radiator to the front of the tub bulkhead it would make a perfect heater!! just have to watch your elbows!! :D
