Back door fooked.

Has anybody every switched the glass from a defender back door (ali strips) to a new back door and is it an easyish job?

Its an extra £70 to get one glazed which is ok if its an arse ache but not if its a couple of four hours work.:)

Cheers

Very easy to do yourself. Use an external mastic. Remove old glass by running sharp blade around old seal. Be careful not to break glass!

I AM about to do exact same BUT i want to remove the window anyway in the new door {from Paddocks £131} so I can get it to the painters

I just put glass into mine as previous owner welded! in a steel plate. That was a b***h so I expect removalof glass tobe really easy. Take the door off for the job. Fitting alistrips- i used rivets and for thhe glass marine grade silicone (It sticks like poo and olds te yachties windows insoit'sgoodenough for me) I got my glass with ali strips,2 other back windows and heater switch all for £30 from local scrappy.

Ok so it currently has self tapers all round the ali strip so guessing you remove those and cut as much of the mastic out as possible (as life to short said). Then remove glass. Getting the new safari door for £95 plus vat from mm4x4.

Hoping the glass will fit the new unit and drill and rivit the ali in to the new door?

Cheers

took mine out when i resprayed it..removed ali strips cut out silicone glass came out piece o ****..
