It can't be too difficult. You may need to remove the front grille to access the bolt heads and undo the bolts with a socket, ratchet and suitable extension.

anybody got the instructions for fitting/removing a genuine Land Rover A bar from a defender?

Ahh yes and there lies the problem. I can't remove the grille to get at and withdraw the bumper bolts because the A Bar prevents it. Chicken and egg situation hence my query - the solution will be very obvious when we get sight of the instructions!

Christ! I've never seen one that is fitted so close!
Yes I know what you mean. I'll have another go. This is on a defender with air conditioning and a winch. However, it's not welded on so if it bolted on it must be able to come off. Thanks for your replies.

I know the aircon makes it all sit further forward but i have no direct experience with one. But with the grill loose is it not possible to flex it enough to withdraw the bumper bolts behind the grill?

A couple of pics of the front end might help visualise the problem and offer a more helpful suggestion

I'll have another go on Thursday and if I still can't get it off I'll post some photos. Thanks.
