Hi I'm 17 in September and have started thinking about first cars. I would like a defender with a 200/300 tdi engine. any advice?

Yes.

Try to avoid capture by the police when you are selling drugs to finance your insurance.

welcome but dont do it.

It will cost you a fortune to insure. Get a **** box fiesta or something for a year or 2 then get one.

A Tdi Defender will be a ball ache to insure, and unless you have at least £3K to spend on one, you are going to end up buying a heap of trouble. If you absolutely have to have a Land Rover 90, then I would suggest an early model with a 2.5 N/A engine, or a Series III 88" with either a standard petrol or diesel engine. Whichever model you choose, you will be facing eye watering insurance costs, ruinous running costs, and a never ending round of maintenace jobs that will need doing. But on the other hand, you will have your own Land Rover that will be more practical, more fun and way cooler than your friends slitty/euroboxes.

it may well be epicaly cool but as a young landy owner myslef get yourself a ****ty renault or peugeot diesel without a turbo 60mpg save a few pennies get a years ncb and watch the insurance costs half dont get a landy as your first motor you will be permantly skint and always working on it

I'm a young landy driver too ! i say **** it get one, mine costs half it costs a mate to insure his fiesta, make sure you get a van though, with two (or three) seats then you'll never have to give lifts ! plus you'll always have something to do ( it will break all the time !) :cool2:
