A Tdi Defender will be a ball ache to insure, and unless you have at least £3K to spend on one, you are going to end up buying a heap of trouble. If you absolutely have to have a Land Rover 90, then I would suggest an early model with a 2.5 N/A engine, or a Series III 88" with either a standard petrol or diesel engine. Whichever model you choose, you will be facing eye watering insurance costs, ruinous running costs, and a never ending round of maintenace jobs that will need doing. But on the other hand, you will have your own Land Rover that will be more practical, more fun and way cooler than your friends slitty/euroboxes.
