Hi guys, it's been a long time since I have used this forum, but here goes
I recently bought my first defender, it's nick name is Shaky, for the obvious reasons. Anyway I have a set of two inch lift dampers and coils from an old rangie classic. Think I can get the cranked radius arms and cranked trailing arms as well really cheap. So the question is will they fit my pride and joy, shaky my 90. There are loads of people telling me I must have this and that but a couple who just say to fit the dampers and coils and all will be fine. What are your thoughts???

Thanks in advance. Moximus

There are pros and cons for both ways of doing it, all depends on how far you're willing to go with it. If you can get some of the parts cheaper then go for it. I myself am just staying with springs and dampers.

Albert, thanks for the reply. So you are just running with plus 2inch springs and shocks without the cracked radius and trailing arms? You had any issues when off road with standard length brake lines? Cheers

I cut the brake bracket off the chassis n tacked it lower years ago for my 90's 2" lift..... got +6's on the new toy but the 90 was fine

cheers steve

Don't bother it will just lead to loads of other problems! Drive train vibration, bushes & steering will all suffer! You don't really get better ground clearance and going round corners becomes quite interesting.

There are loads of threads on here about lifting a 90. Most of them are negative?

Mine is high as I had sump and diff issues with 1uzfe,

Thanks for the responses guys. So I could get away with it but it would be better to have the cranked trailing and radius arms and the extended brake lines. With ref to the drive shaft, i take it that will need to be replaced as well at some point. Any suggestions for that. Cheers

I'll be using extended hoses, it's not on the road yet so I can't tell u much yet. I'll be using standard arms etc

Cheers Albert, keep me posted mate. I should be swapping out the suspension in the next two weeks as soon as I can get some time. Cheers

Suspension lift almost complete and my 90 is looking great. Put some 265/75/R16 on some old steel modulates I have had for a while. It looks great but ain't driving to well at the moment. Got a set of QT cranked radius arms to get fitted next which should improve things a bit. Wheels are balanced but there are a hell of a lot of balancing weights on them. Will update on Sunday once the work is done and bang in a few photos as well. Cheers
