Cheers for the Great Question that none of us have ever seen before, with a well thought out title!

Just at the top of the page there is a button which has the words "search" written on it, seek and you shall find the answers u require.

If your not already overwhelmed by all the useful advice you've received already:D, then Ive had my fuel pump tweeked a little. Its taken some of the sluggishness out of the acceleration. which is all I wanted.

I highly recommend IRB Developments, he can sort out different levels of tuning, Stage 1, Stage 2 or Stage 3 depending on whether you just want a fuel pump tweek, replacement intercooler, or hybrid turbo etc

But remember, its a 300tdi Defender. Never designed to be driven fast, its made for an entirely different purpose. But IRB can make it fly if you have the £££££

And considering all the monsters that lurk around on here, I think youve got off lightly with your first post:D

Suppose you could always shorten the wastgate linkage to up the turbo boost - problem is the engine would probably die after 500 miles if you go much over 1.2 bar

Straight through exhaust? Maybe OK on a Corsa, but a Landy???

:welcome2: You can spend a small fortune trying to increase speed but the bottom line is torque and getting to know how to get the best out of what you have. Save your money for now and concentrate on the basic stuff,,,,,you may get 5 or 10 mph for £1000. First thing I would do is change your oil, nothing fancy just 15/40 mineral oil. Change the gearbox and transmission fluids and your diffs, brakes as well. Air filters the lot..... £50.

You have a very good engine that will go for years to come.... IMO you start fooking about trying to put more umph into something that was never designed to go fast... you will fook it up. If it aint bust... dont fix it :)

PS.... give the lad a little break... post 4 and keen.... remember those days you old fookers? (me included) :D

thanks for the usefull comments gents, im not great at finding my way round the site but i promise to try harder, i would like a td5 but ive been handed this 300 really cheap and its in really nice original condition, just wanted to tweak it slightly to improve it overall. is the egr blanking plate a good way to go or should it be avoided? and also the cat replacement pipe?
