Hi!

I am planning on swapping my 2.5NA on my Def 110 with a Def 200TDI engine that has done 90K miles. I would like to know if I need to rebuild the engine or de-coke it? Any advise will be great.

Generally how long do Landy engines last? Whats the weight of a 200TDI engine?
Any advise will be great.
 
90k is that 90,000 miles or 90,000 km if its km providing its been well serviced its barely been run in for a diesel engine, 90,000 miles i would consider a decoke easy to do with engine out but dont skip on the job do every thing re grind valves fit new valve seals a lot of ppl just change the head gasket (silly buggers),
 
90k is nothing to a 200tdi. It should be good for well over 200k if looked after, or more importantly, if it's been looked after. As for the weight just don't drop it on yer foot.
 
and dont kick it if you do any thing wrong cus that fooooooooooooooooooookkkkkkkkin hurts aswell
 
Oops sorry forgot it was 90K miles. Need to weight to calculate shipping costs. Thanks for the advice. Will swap it and then check its performance and compression test on all cylinders and then see if I need a de-coke.

Oh! By the way had dropped an Arcam amp on my little toe and had to get it operated. So am damn careful on lifiting stuff nowdays, actually stopped as I had a bloody slipdisc too. :D
 
Contact Turner engineering for the exact weight as they ship LR engines all over the world.
 
I would probably service it and change the cam belt so that you know for sure that this has been done.

As others have said 90k miles is nothing for a 200Tdi. Mine is on 160k and I've never had the head off.........de-coking is a little 'old school' now-a-days. :)
 
De-coking a diesel is not a requirement. They stay cleaner inside than petrol engines.

If you know that engine was a good runner, the standard advice is fit a new cambelt and stuff the engine in with a new clutch plate, release bearing, and check and grease the release arm pivot socket.

Don't die of shock when you drive it. It will GO!!!!!

do a compression test on it.......if its ok then fit it.....if it isnt then rebuild it before you fit it in the new vehicle.....but id be suprised if you found anything seriously wrong as its hardly a high mileage
 
90K fine, 300-400KG depending on ancillaries, rad, oils etc. Bare they are about 250 lump only.

PS MUCH better if you can hear it running and check the top end!
