HI All - a couple of technical questions as I am preparing the old 110 to go to South Europe for the nth time :)

1. Overdrive
What is better - GKN electrically controlled or or the manual RoverDrive. By better I mean which is more reliable - I do '000 miles on motorways followed by mountain roads and green lanes. I have read horror stories of reliability issues - Is there an accepted view?

2. Exhaust - Custom / Hybrid
my 110 is fitted with a heavy duty Isuzu 2.8 pick up engine (with cam gears, no cam belt) - after 15 years the exhaust will soon disintegrate - can anyone recommed a specialist that can fix or can do custom LR exhausts, ideally in Surrely or berkshire - and at an honest price?

3. Rear axle
I want to replace my rear salisbury drum axle with a disc brake one - I understand this is a fairly straight forward job, but the trainer arms need replacement too - is that correct?

4. Chassis guard
Does anyone have a def 110 underbody transmission plate / guard for sale? that is the large square-ish one typically marketed by terrafirma

5. Eberspacher
Does anyone know any reliable specialist in Surrey / south berkshire that can do a custom installation of an Eberspacher system heater as well as a simple but heavy duty twin battery system?

Cheers everybody!

I've had a GKN overdrive on a 200Tdi 90. Had no problems as all (including a lot of heavy towing) although I've heard of electrical problems.

I now have a Td5 110 and still do a lot of heavy towing. When I looked into getting an overdrive for a trip to the French Alps I decided to go for a Roverdrive (Roamerdrive). I didn't like the fact that GKN don't make their unit any more and preferred the idea of a purely mechanical unit.

I've done over 20,000 mile with it now and love it. I mainly use it on the motorway but occasionally as a splitter when towing.

Where about are you located? I'm near Hook in Hampshire if you want to take a look?

for question 3 trailing arms dont need changing you can either fit the disc wheel stations to your axle case and diff or swap complete axle
