Morning all,
I have just returned from a 5 hour ordeal with my beloved 110 on the back of a recovery truck
Just passing Reading eastbound on the M4 at 0630 when the was a bit of a bang from underneath, I started to slow down not sure if I'd hit something and then there were a huge number of bangs and I coasted into the hard shoulder.
The engine was still running OK and the clutch seemed good, but the only gear I had left seemed to be 4th.
If I'm honest I had thought it was getting a little rumbly but don't normally drive that far, but adverse weather etc etc.
Anyway I'm assuming that this sounds like a new gearbox, I have an LT77, I need to track down the serial number.
I had previously thought an R380 "Stumpy" might be a good option but would welcome some advice now that I am forced into action.
In particular I'd like to know who has done the job themselves and how painful it is - assuming a normal home mechanic set up and reasonable competence.
Just what I needed before Christmas
