The heat/ combustion spots are quite normal I think, mine had them and now it's back together, has no problems at all. I'm no expert on LR TDi heads, but, those tiny cracks by the glow plug holes are probably not significant.
Im sure James Martin et al can advise.

Just spoke to the engineering place and the cylinder head passed the pressure test and is just getting a light skim - great news :D not bad either at £60 + VAT but still waiting for the gaskets and stuff to arrive :(

Well........... just had the new head gasket / head bolts / radiator delivered just waiting for the new valve stem oil seals..............

Picked up the head from the engineering place earlier and all of the pitting has been removed - its completely blemish free :D asked the guy how they pressure test the heads and they do it cold but use 50psi to check for leaks...............

Busy day today................. Had a hand from my mate and his dad:

Timing checked and timing cover replaced (bearing was squealing)
Valve stem oils seals replaced
Valves lapped into the head
Head rebuilt
New thermostat housing gasket
New temp sender
Engine block cleaned ready for the gasket
Head fitted and new head bolts fitted and torqued down
New radiator fitted
New injector copper seals
New glowplugs
New injector leakoff pipes refitted
New intake/exhaust gasket
New rocker cover gasket
New oil cooler o rings
New radiator hoses
New 'clear' expansion tank
Coolant system flushed and refilled with anti-freeze
New engine oil with filter

Took the 90 for a test drive and its running sweet!!! :D :D :D

Happy days Daz dont know if yur Bank accounts gonna be after that long list of new parts, You,ll be a dab hand now at rebuilding 300 tdis after the past few months!:D

Yep - glad its sorted mate! :)
Thought i'd replace most of the stuff that was removed when the work was going on....... glad i replaced the valve stem oil seals a few of em had gone hard and weren't sealing properly. A couple of the valves looked like they weren't sealing 100% either so all the valves were lapped into the head - glad we had the wobbling drill attachment :D
