Pray tell wam, just in case I inadvertently bid on the steamy ebay one...

First you say "probably water damage" then you say "no water damage",
vicar of dibley whatsisface....yes yes no... but no, no no yes?o_O

Well i have only been at this game for over 50 years or so might have seen it before, what do you think? ;):D

I hadn't read the first part of the post thoroughly enough and forgot the bit about coolant loss bit.
Had a Renault once that had a piston crown that looked like that and that was a broken top ring started the failure.
Must be water damage over a long period, my current Toyota came to me after being driven at speed into a deep river crossing, the water didn't compress then but piston remained undamaged, just the conrod snapped.
Seen others where the crank has snapped even, not the piston.
id go with water causing rod to bend ,thats more likely a product extreme heat and seizure

I think you should eat healthily, don't wear slippers upstairs and answer questions when you feel up to it, tomorrow is fine, shall we say after 9?:)

Fixed that bit for you:D:D:D

Steady down now. You must be aware that most people on here think Comma's are cans of oil. :D;)
In the case of my gearbox service (on my previous) it's what I elected to use, which may or may not explain why it hasn't turned a wheel since January, but my money is on catastrophic timing failure or the LPG burnt it asunder.

Retarded timing certainly burns holes in pistons.
