Personal I wouldn't go bigger than 18's

+1.

In fact I prefer the softer ride of the 16" rims. Better off road too. The 18" rims are slightly more positive on the steering and OK on motorways but not as comfy on our potholed roads. Those are 18" in my avatar.

I have one on 16's and one on 18's. I prefer the look of the 18's and the ride of the 16's. The 16's are less inclined to shimmy on certain surfaces too.
I would add that fitting Nexen Roadians to the 18's improved both the directional stability and ride, they are wearing very well to and are very quiet.

As far as I know the l322 has the same thread studs as the p38 just smaller heads 22mm against 27 for the p38.

Thanks for all your helpful suggestions. Seems to me that if the thread size is the same, a set of 27mm D2/P38 nuts should sort it. Failing that, changing the hub studs to standard P38 should allow me to mount the D2 wheels. Can't belief the wheel holes have been enlarged, so it has to be the nuts/studs.
I'm away for a fortnight at the end of the week so won't be doing anything till I get back. I'll report back later.
Cheers All.

You probably only need the nuts, I have disco 3 -range rovers sport wheels and used nuts to suit, I just the nut size that differs.
