December 9th 2022 (and the gearbox failed a few months prior to this thread being made)
I finally have my discovery 2 back
I said I would update this thread even if it is almost 2 years later so here it is,
My discovery runs and drives again and I've had it 2 weeks and done about 150 miles in it and it's appears to be ok
Oddly enough he hasn't asked for any money yet? (Also funny)
Still hasn't asked for any money funnily enough
I think he never changed the gearbox but it doesn't matter anymore
Whatever gearbox was in it, was definitely shot and it has now been replaced for a decent second hand one with low miles and was serviced before being fitted
I also had to replace the wiring loom for the gearbox as the main connector and been broken off then someone has used rtv to stick it into the socket
I also found out that it has an upgraded torque converter and I was wondering if that would have something to do with the issues filling the gearbox
But overall I have learnt some a valuable lesson from this land rover,
If you want something done right do it yourself
So finally, thanks to everyone that helped me out trying to fix it.
Anyway, how easy is it to manual swap these things?
