Hi All,

So while sat at the laptop earlier thought I would try and put together a helpful list of what to look at when someone has an issue with their D2 keyfob / alarm .

So, here it is in rough form. Please let me know your thoughts. I you think it may be useful or if it is of no use. any improvements etc.

I know you lot will be gentle with me..........:oops:

File deleted and updated file added on next post.
Cheers

Following a great bit of feedback from @brian47 .

I have added a section on his recommendation about pressing the fob unlock twice.

Nice one, handy guide... i just want to add (with red) to "However you will still need to re-enter it every time you lock the car with the key, or even unlocked if it stood more than 5 minutes with igniotion off, as the immobiliser re-arms itself."

you make it to sound better just keepo the gist of it;)

Thanks... well done, i hope some admin will make this sticky

Very handy - saved for (hopefully not) future reference.

I've just added a Rover 75 key fob to mine as a second spare. I was hoping to use it to activate the "bathrobe" option as it's getting colder but have discovered that only works with a key in the door so will have to get one cut. It was only £12 from ebay so useful as a spare anyway.

Hi Ian,

Thanks,

Just remember that the the R75 key does not have the passive immobiliser "chip" in it, so if your wait too long before starting then you will need to press the unlock button again as the immob will rearm.

Also, just for fun, I thought it was illegal to have a car running with no one in attendance........:p:p:p.. nanny state is watching you...LOL

Cheers

That bathrobe locking is not some smart optoin cos if somebody forces the door he can just hop in and drive away...also if you dont have a FBH letting the D2 at idle when it's really cold it's only waste of fuel cos it willl not warm up whatsoever.... though is good at least to de-ice the screens(if you have HFS) and warm up the seats

I think I have a problem.........:oops::oops:

Is there an intervention for this sort of thing???

If you want another one to join your gang, drop me a PM with your address and I'll send you a brand new one
Has the board and a working battery and the LED lights up.
The slot for the key is slightly misshapen but blade would fit fine with a little dab of superglue

@biggeeeee ,

Thanks for the offer, really do appreciate it, But that would be greedy of me and I think I have enough. I already have one too many for the slots available in the car.

I am sure knowing how these things happen, that a well deserving soul will appear before long who is in dire need of it.

Or, stick it on fleabay, they go for about £10 to £15.

Thanks again,

Cheers

It is the de-icing I was looking for and TBH it'll just be on the drive in front of the house. I do accept your point however.....

If demisting/de-icing is all you're bothered about, maybe you should look at something like this:-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200W-12V-Car-Auto-Heater-Cooler-Dryer-Demister-Defroster-2in1-Hot-Cool-Fan-Van-/311760565054?hash=item489660b33e:g:pnAAAOSw2xRYU3M5

For the purpose you have in mind, it would need to pick up a permanent supply so that it could be switched on and the vehicle locked again.
If you're really, really geeky maybe you could arrange a remote switching app off your iTelephoning communications type smart device, that way you wouldn't even have to get out of bed to warm up the car.

Thanks to @neilly for this thread - I used the PDF to rescue a dead D2 from my mate. No EKA code, but I tried 1515 which worked.

Problem was a weak RF receiver (in the roof). I eventually found that holding the key right next to it would get it to unlock. New receiver, PN: YWY 000080, sorted the problem.

1515 worked on a few other UK Discos I've tried it on but I've been told before by others that there was no way 1515 could have worked. :confused:

FYI... 1515 was normally the standard EKA for NAS Disco 2s.

Another thing that might help someone out there who would need to confirm if the fob is working. Set your TV analogue tuner to 433Mhz and it should be able to detect the presence of the fob's RF signal when pressing any of the buttons. Depending on your TV model, the indicator is usually a signal strength / signal quality bar that moves whenever the frequency is locked by the tuner. When I did this, I connected the TV to a short dipole antenna that I made from a piece of antenna cable with the core and shield separated in a horizontal arrangement. Then you simply point the fob directly at the antenna.
