The best as said would be a new made up insert , you can have the head removed and have its ports sandblasted to clean out the rust but the cost is not worth it depending on how bad that sleeve is and the waterways are is your decision , if its not that bad bodge it as suggested if it is , it's not going to last long if its that rotten.

Since when have alloy cylinder heads rusted?

Since when have alloy cylinder heads rusted?

Hence the title I gave this topic....

Hopefully off out to pick her up in about an hour. Looking forward to see what the "mechanic" has to say, should be a laugh. Will let you all know if I manage to get her home without too much hassle.

Unless they have invented a non magnetic steel, both mine are alloy with a wall thickness of about 3mm.

Don't know Keith the small rear one on mine has a fair wall thickness but don't think the large front one has. Can't remember to be honest and i am not about to pull the top hose to find out. Have you never heard of stainless steel?:):)

No hoses on my scrapper to easy to check. Yep stainless is non magnetic but sure as hell it's not stainless. Stainless is hard, the stub is not only non magnetic, but it's soft and as I said has a wall thickness of about 3mm.:)

Was talking more the steel insert , but just because its alloy doesn't mean crud doesn't build up and narrow the waterways know all:)
If there is rust, it's from the block and as I said, due to old or non existant antifreeze:rolleyes:
