Hi Pals.
Looking to put a new CV joint boot on the out (wheel end)side of the shaft. Any one done one of these? The Haynes sez to remove the ABS sensor? I would rather avoid this, as the thing has been in there from new and I know the bolt will snap when I try. I know the caliper will have to come off.
Any hints and tips very welcome pals.
Not a job I'm looking forward to.

No need to remove any of that, providing the shaft comes out the joint ok. If it doesn't, then you'll need to remove the hub assembly to "persuade" the shaft out the joint. I can't see why Haynes say take the ABS sensor out though, as that's not necessary at all.

Thanks. I realise I need to get the Hub away from the shaft, but need to do it with as little bother as possible. I'm getting on a bit in years and have not got the arm power I used to have.

You'll need to clamp some sort of device to the shaft, so you can whack it inwards with a lump hammer, once you've got the bottom ball joint separated. This will pop the C ring which holds the splines in the CV joint. It can be a bugger to split the joints sometimes, and other times not so hard. I've done it hundreds of times, but still the odd one requires a more medieval approach.

I'd just unbolt the caliper saddle's 12mm bolts and tie it up, hanging it from the spring with a bungee, simply to avoid damage to the flexy hose.
