hi all
New to all this I live in Cumbria I own a freelander now I'm looking for couple of things like where do I get info about Greenlanes? Are the dedicated maps for Greenlane or just os map with them on ? Not wanting anything extreme as got a freelander but wanting to give it a try.
Or are the iPhone apps out now ? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
I do know there is a road leading from hodge close quarry to cathedral quarry but don't know what it's like down there. Walna scar is to far out my driving skill as yet and don't think the car will go up some of it.
Cheers Mitch

If I was up there I would definitely take mine over some of the passes (Honister, Hard Knot, Wrynose are ones I have done). Good driving but not so challenging that you can't enjoy the stunning views as you go.

OS maps can be used - look for the Byeways which are the dashed lines with crosses. But don't go on your own unless you know the route, the AA probably won't be able to help you if you get stuck.

And enjoy it.

You have me interested honister and hardknott is there are off road around there or are you meaning on the Tarmac and I have a mate with a defender so have back up but he's not done and green lane as uses it for the beach

Cumbria has some of the best laning in the country. Walna is not legal, Hodge Close is, but there are some rock steps. Some of the lanes like Parkamoor and Grizedale may not be Freelander friendly. Best way is to join a group with an experienced leader.

Cool thank you shall look in to this and join a group. Walna I have heard on several occasions that is been re opened and parts have been modified how true this is I don't know. Do you live in Cumbria?

There'll be lots of laning trips out from LZ12, graded for vehicle ability with lots of experienced folk on hand :)
