Ive got 3 optima batteries 2 yellow and 1 red. They won't be getting used for a while so to keep them tip top I'm going to get a trickle/conditioner charger.

I also work away for long periods and keep coming back after a few months away to a flat battery.

So following the advice on there website, CTEK recommend the MXS10 MXS 10

Or the MXS7 MXS 7.0

Anyone have an opinion? do i need he 10 over the 7 or do i even need the 7? will a 5 do?

I use th CTEK stuff on my bikes,especially the HD which tends to sit for a while. The 10 is good.

We use a 5 on a 300 disco at our shooting club which sits for two weeks at a time and is then only used for about an hour or so before being parked up again. A 5 will be fine as you are not trying to charge a large battery from flat, only keeping a full one topped up. If your battery was flat it would obviously take longer to charge it than a 7 or 10 would.

Only ever used accumate - did a great job of keeping battery topped up

Think slightly lower cost that ctek

Had a CTEK for years, absolutely cannot fault it.

Multi XS 4003 model, looks very similar to your link for a 10 ...

bigger the better, my s2000 used to sit for 6 months unused with ctek on

I bought a 5 seeing as it's specced to do the batteries I have on my cars incl defender. They're not cheap so thought it wasteful to buy one bigger than necessary.

I found one on eBay (an mxs 10) so thought id have a cheeky bid.

The bleeding thing went for £70 just shy, there £99 brand new!

This was advertised as not working, untested.

The mind boggles sometimes.

thinking i might not need a CTEK.

Might go for a halfrauds own brand one.

Anyone got one of these?

Have a look for Accumate or Optimate, used for bikes but would do for car batteries as well. Mate has a ctek for his bike and swears by it.

I use an optimax charger that i used to have for my gsxr 600, just plug it in and leave it over winter and when i came to the bike the following season it had a nice full battery..

I do the same with any spare batteries i have in the shed. I also have a cheaper version which has less display on it but it does the same job, If you want the name of the other i can get it you, i think it was only around £20 so can't grumble really.

I use Optimate for my bikes
But I have a ctek for my car (only does 300 miles a year) because you can get the right amp-hour for the size of battery
Where as the bike ones tend to be a bit low on amps for the bigger car battery
They are a bit pricey but if it saves you a costly battery then it's worth it
