Hiya guys

I think there has been great interest on here about fitting cruise control on their freelanders.

My freelander was formally a commercial van type and converted it to accept seats and installed side windows

I have since had most of the interior out and traced wiring to see if it was able to accept cruise control

On investigation and by comparing what colour wires I had to the rave cd they all seem to match up

Now all I have to do is to buy the components and was wondering if anyone may have some or breaking a freelander please

I'm after the following

A master on off switch that fits on the left hand side of the instrument panel and the switch is curved

The set resume switch that fits onto the right hand side of the steering wheel

And the cruise control interface ecu

Thanks so much guys and have been wondering has anyone else been succesful in fitting the oem cruise control

Really appreciate the great advice I've received here and wanted to at least say I really @preciate it and would have really struggled without everyones help

Thanks again guys

All the best

Gary

hiya guys

ive now fitted my steering wheel that has the flappy paddles that has the ice and cruise controls on it.

ordered the switch and awaiting for that

wished to advised concerning the cruise control ecu that fits under the drivers seat

the unit ref SCB100211L will fit a freelander TD4/rover 75/ MG ZT/MG ZTT.

dealers want nearly £300.00 for them but found out that pectron sold there stock to a company called X-part.

Looked on the internet and if you buy them from the netherlands and italy they are selling them for £108.00 inc vat.

so when i get one will let you know if it actually works, hopefully can get one from a breakers for around £50.00

Cost wise.

Dash board switch £10.18
Steering wheel £45.00 including paddles

hope this may help someone else but at the end of the day it will be the proof of the pudding if it works.

if it does will is people wish me to will do a wire by wire meter reading to show what voltages you should get and on what wire ( yes i know i need to get out more )

thanks again guys for allowing me to get this far

all the best

does this only work on autos or can it work on manuals as well?

Autos only I'm afraid. The auto boxes TCM (ECU) forms part of the CC system. It's used to process the speed and throttle position information between the CC ECU and engine ECU. So only the auto can have CC. The manual box wiring harness doesn't even have any of the CC wiring needed, because it simply can't work.

Hi Gary, have you seen this thread from a while back, there are lots of posts to read it might help you out.

Cheers.

hi mate

i'm lost now, lol

you've included a link to one of my posts :D:D

there was a few of us that wernt sure if u was able to fit the oem cruise control, putting out heads together and i started to trace wiring etc

i done like a test run and it worked fine, but only on autos

made sure i got a second hand ecu so it's preprogrammed , fitted the steering wheel controls and on , off switch all worked without activation

one of the main factors is having the plug tucked away underneath the drivers seat, if it's not there it won't fit

funny enough i sold mine a few weeks ago and bought a discovery 3

cheers
