Guys,

when in lazy comfort mode, cruise engaged, wafting down the motorway, I noticed that the speedo seems to vary by about 5mph. The car slows, gets a bootful of juice from the cruise system, goes too fast then starts all over again. Had the displeasure of driving a company Vulvo the other day. The speedo on that was rock steady with cruise on.

Do the RR symptoms above seem normal to you guys or is it possible I have a vacuum leak or similar

No, on the straight level sections. Forgot to mention, it's a P38

could be yer have a small vacumm leak, if yer CC is vaccummmm operated a small leak could lead to symtoms yer describe

i would say you have a problem, went to south coast yesterday and mine was a solid speed regardless of inclines, not hills you understand!

Sounds like the vacuum tubes are beginning to perish...

I've just replaced my vacuum tubes and on the flat keeps speed well but on downward inclines it does tend to speed up a small ammount and on upward grades sometimes accelerates a little past the set speed before slowing down to it....I did notice that the throttle cables are a little stiff (possibly in need of lubrication) could this be anything to do with it? Also the accelerator pedal is a bit stiff (but only slightly so).
