Seems like you purchased a bad motor. I would, as already suggested, take it on the chin and move on. Good on you for being brave enough to open this thread as it can be embarrassing to admit you purchased a lemon but it does remind others to be careful when buying privately.
Not sure if already covered but must have a scrap value? Compared to a lot of motors on the road including the new and old it has not worked out an overly expensive period of motoring.

Thanks for your advise KSLB , I've just managed to sell it for export so have recouped some of my losses

some ott comments above, it was obviously sold without an mot.....cos failing it was what started this thread in the first place, so anybody buying it should have known it was unroadworthy, how much the vendor pointed out to the buyerr is basically irrelevant. or are lot you trying to tell us we aint allowed to sell our wrecks anymore.

Caveat emptor

Precisely. I have been in exactly the same situation as you Discogal but yonks ago and a £400 metro, lol!! Still that long ago would be about £1000 in today's terms, maybe more. However, I fixed her up and she ran for years but I didn't have a leg to stand on with the seller. To start going into it deeper for £400 I was told not to bother.

Still, at least you've got some of your cash back...better than nothing and at least your partner is no longer driving a death trap.

Onwards and upwards! ;)

So you conned some other guy or gal?

i have conned nobody fyi i advertised it thru ebay and listed every damn thing that was wrong with it . are you one of these do as you have been done by merchants , coz im NOT.

For everybodies imformation . I sold the vehicle thru ebay with a description of everything that was wrong with it from the mot sheet. He is exporting it to africa where he says that spare parts are rarer than rocking horse **** and will be broken over there . I would not have sold it to him if i thought for one minute that it would be endangering lives. Some of you hotheaded t**ts on this site obviously have nothing better to do with your time than pull apart people that are worse off than yourselves both financially and knowledge of vehicles. I bet if you had saved for 2 years for a vehicle and some b*****d ripped you off you would feel a bit p****d off . Its t**ts like you that give this forum a bad name .
