For everybodies imformation . I sold the vehicle thru ebay with a description of everything that was wrong with it from the mot sheet. He is exporting it to africa where he says that spare parts are rarer than rocking horse **** and will be broken over there . I would not have sold it to him if i thought for one minute that it would be endangering lives. Some of you hotheaded t**ts on this site obviously have nothing better to do with your time than pull apart people that are worse off than yourselves both financially and knowledge of vehicles. I bet if you had saved for 2 years for a vehicle and some b*****d ripped you off you would feel a bit p****d off . Its t**ts like you that give this forum a bad name .

Hey! Calm down Discogal :) When I was in the same situation as you my kids were babies and we were broke...we scrimped and saved to buy that fookin heap of **** metro so I could take the kids to nursery and I too was ****ed off at being sold a lemon, albeit a £400 lemon, so I sympathise but coming on here you know the score and amongst the banter youve had some good advice.

And I'm a bigger fool than you...that metro was a fookin left hand drive too.

its really hard with ebay. i sold a car that had been using daily for 2 years. i bought from a dealer, when selling i sold with about 9 months mot. all previous mot were clean and never had any welding work! sold it on ebay for £1200, buyer came, looked at outside, i drove it to the end of my street, 100 yards. buyer spent 1 minute looking at car. said great, paid and left.
then 2 weeks later i get an email saying it needed loads of welding to the sills.they were totally covered with plastic so i had no idea. i did not give any money back and received bad feedback!

but i have had the same on buying my 2001 disco 2 es 8 months ago for £5000, i checked the car, drove it, spent a good hour looking around it. checked over chassis etc. was clean so bought.
when getting it home i noticed that the turbo was overboosting(it was a faulty wastegate) which was not reapirable so bought a new turbo(£500) also the rear chassis had a 8" split in the rail!! i didnt spot it when inspecting it. spent the time and can weld so sorted it. but thats life. its sold as seen. everyone gets a sh~t deal every so often. i didnt ask for cash back as i bought sold as seen.
i know its a bummer to lose the cash but you inspected it on purchase weather the information was correct on ebay.

Yes I realise now how easy it is to buy a shed that looks great from the outside and on inspection ok underneath especially when there is a lot of fresh paint about to make it look as if its all been undersealed . One chap said that a paying a grand was a budget car price . A grand is a lot of money if you've got bugger all . My budget for a car usually only stretches to £400. The upshot of it all is , I need to be more careful in the future .thanks for your post. It was nice to have one that wasn't aggresive compared to so many of them that were.

Caveat Emptor and a budget of £400 guarantees a pile of ****- sorry to be blunt.

Secondly a private seller is only liable if the vehicle is misrepresented.

Yes its all water under the bridge now , time to move on whilst kicking myself all the way . I really didn't think it would have caused such a stir on here I'm amazed by the amount of flack it created not just towards me but between other members!
