Hey all,

So the TD5 failed on me this morning. She turned over and started, but immediately cut out. She fired but never really got to ticking over normally.. just kind of wobbled and died.

Now she turns over normally, but there's no hint of firing at all.

Fuel pump SEEMS to be operating normally - it whirs as per normal when heating the coils.

I need to go back out and have a proper look, but not really sure what I need to be looking for..

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Robb

May be worth pulling the fuel pipe off at the FPR and checking the flow .

Had a pump fail , was "running" but flow was only from the low pressure side.

Also make sure the battery is fully charged.

Any chance to get it on diagnostics? been playing in water?

Cheers

Gonna check the crankshaft position sensor tomorrow and give it a clean.. seems to be the thing that comes up first in all the searches.

Thanks neilly.. what's FPR short for?

And nope - no water, not recently. I replaced the water pump and centrifugal oil filter housing a few weeks ago, but can't see how that could have affected it.

After closer inspection, I spotted fuel dripping down from the bell housing - it seems to be originating from the FPR block and leaks out when fuel pump is engaged/tuning over. It's not coming from the pipes, it seems to be coming from the regulator itself (it also leaks when I push it inwards).

So clearly the regulator needs replacing.. but a small (relatively speaking) leak here probably isn't the cause of the problem, right?

And I'm guessing a leak from the FPR when the fuel pump is engaged means the fuel pump is functioning?

Cheers
