Ihave a crackle coming from the sound system. I can have it on radio or cd and it still happens. This is stoping sound comeing out of it and it still crackles with the volume down. Has my amp had it of is there another problem. I am sure one of you guys will be able to help me with this.:doh::doh:

Not getting a lot of help with this one lads. I am sure there must be someone who can help me with this one.:doh::doh::doh::doh::doh::doh:

Start by checking that everything is well earthed.
Then check the connections for corrosion.

Usually caused by a dodgy speaker connection ... is the crackling coming out of one speaker only, one side only or all speakers? All speakers check behind head unit, single speaker check behind it first. Amps don't usually cause crackling, they just work or they don't. Good luck :)

There is no sound now just the odd poping noise if that makes sense. The cd all starts how it should on the display but no sound from that either. Is there a way to eliminate things.

As you haven't said what sound system you've got but you mentioned an amp. I'm assuming that you have a system with a head unit and a seperate amp in the boot.

So, if you've lost all sound it can't be one speaker connection so that's the speakers eliminated.

The head unit is fairly safe tucked up in the dash and you say that the cd is powering up and working correctly, and it's not easy to get to so . .

That leaves the amp that is sat in the boot and Land Rovers have never had a great reputation for being water tight.

So, by a process of logical elimination I would start with the amp. Get to it, get it out if you can and check the connections for corrosion etc.

Cheers Dogsbody. Silly question where is the Amp and is it hard to remove it. If not that will be my next point of call.

Sorry mate, been working and avoiding royal nuptials.

You still haven't said what system you've got but if it's in a Rangie and it's a standard fitting and has got a separate amp then it should be in the boot on the left hand side behind the trim.

:D
