Guys i have a 85 2 1/4 90 would you now how many splines the shafts are? im guessing 10 spline.. the other thing is what would be the easiest diesel conversion to fit?

Yup, you got 10 spline running gear, unless you've swapped it for Rangie axles to give you disks all round. 200TDi should be a fairly straight transplant.

My mate has a 300 tdi rangie that i may be able to get for not a lot of dollars, are the axles a simple swap? what about the props? and how would the gearing be? ..thanks in advance

Right, axles are a straight swap, gearbos and transfer box will be OK as well, but the 300TDi is a bit more complex to fit. Also the props might be a bugger to get the right ones to fit. It would be a nice conversion when done, but I would go for a £400 MOT failure Disco and put in engine/box/t-box/axles from that. Straight swap, slightly higher gearing and disks all round.

Rangie 300TDi Soft Dash? Why does he want to break it they're as rare as rocking horse ****, not many of them were made - I'd spend the time and money restoring it...

I've got a Disco 300tdi that I'm breaking. Everything apart from the engine is available. But I also have a 200tdi engine minus a turbo up for grabs. I was gonna do a 200DI conversion for my Series 3 but it's never gonna happen so I might as well sell it on. open to offers b4 it all goes on ebay.
