I did not know this.
Nor did I until I read a very interesting article about this in LRM.
I had cause to investigate this in France where it is much easier to find out your rights. Over there the "write off" rules are quite harsh, i.e. this thing just doesn't happen and you do have to accept the write off value UNLESS the car is of "historical interest". So it could be argued, perhaps that a Series 1 would deserve to be rebuilt but a car like the one in question, my D2, would not! (I got it fixed with secondhand parts and everyone was happy.)

Price comparison sites are no good for mods. You need to phone and speak to somebody
Adrian flux I have no eggsperience with

I’m not telling you who my insurer is with your current track record im trying to avoid higher premiums :)
Cheers :D

Dead right! Just get one of the LR mags, the specialists advertise in both of them. They are used to modded vehicles and they know that if you care about your car and mod it yourself you are not going to be too keen to wrap it round a tree. Just don't tell em what other quotes you have had!
When I last insured a modded LR the company in the end said "What would it take for you not to go to another copmpany for a quote?" I told them and they cut the price waaaaaaaay back. Obviously this was just for the first year but it made a huge difference.
And please don't ask me who it was cos I have taken it off the road over two years ago and can't remember, else I'd tell you!:):)

If you can get hold of the Adrian flux guy on here he will advise what you best options are and understand the Landy / OE paradox

Tried Liverpool Victoria? Years ago my first modded car I couldn’t get insurance they were great.

In a way it is good to hear you are busy with work, not something everyone can say what with CV19! But we all know what you mean!
I think most of us come on here to problem solve and then have fun looking at the other parts of the forum. But it is huge and there are still parts of it that I have never visited. Bit like a reference library!
One little tip, if you want to search for something it is often better to go to Google and then be very specific about what you want. It will often bounce you back in here but in the right place, I find the LZ search facility is not too sophisticated, whcih is unsurprising. Google must be far more expensive to run!:):)

:p:p:p Can’t fault you...would hate my ‘curse’ to rub off...honestly you couldn’t make this crap up...there was a topic on the radio the other day called ‘i never’ basically you had to state your age and whatever you had never done etc in a txt or tweet ...loads of i’m so old and i’ve never done this or never done that etc....I was soooo tempted to phone in and say i’m 52 at the end of the month and i’ve never had anything straightforward and without a fight!!
Decided against it since its not in my nature to be a victim of self pity etc and so didn’t want the humour to be lost in transmission :):)

Sorry @Stanleysteamer don’t know how i included your message here haha must have been ready to reply and got distracted :rolleyes:

What do you use the extra bits for day to day?
You could as I mentioned revert to original and avoid it.
Then again these things are sent to try us, and as mortals try we must :)

To be honest i only bought the car because my D2 had given up and it was a false economy keeping it...It was bought as it is with all the service history and docs...apparently the snorkel and wheels were optional upgrades at 1st purchase and 1st owner and the bench and fog lights were added later by the 2nd owner so i’ve inherited the headache :confused: I’m guardian to my 2 grandsons and so needed the extra seats and load space for them more than business since i get my stock delivered..it seemed like a more affordable option than a standard 5/7 seater with 88k miles :D:D

I’m gonna try with Dan at Adrian Flux as previously suggested but failing that it’ll be back to the drawing board cancelling ( and getting screwed in the process for time on cover ) taking it through to the FCA and ringing round some others so i’ll try Liverpool Victoria too but i may just hang fire and see if i can get the V5 updated/amended to 5 seater car and then i may be accepted by mainstream car insurers rather than van insurers.

That's ok. Have you tried the V5c mod yet, as per gov.uk link?
Thanks @Stanleysteamer i’m posting it off tomorrow so we’ll see but its encouraging to see @dogsbody had no issues.
As for the insurance i’ve cancelled Adrian Flux for an unbelievably acceptable cancellation price thanks to the lovely lady on the complaints team...although the additional premium was reduced to £120 after mentioning LZ membership i still got a far better deal with Admiral little box van insurance...ALL mods added for £1300 ;);)

Best of luck mate.
Don't know how many mods you put/have on your vehicle but when I insured the one I mentioned earlier, I rmembered yesterday how much it was , for limited mileage to I think 3000 a year I got fully comp for £188. But then I am over 60 no points on licence and full no claims. My fully standard TD5 auto is about £250 a year with mileage limited to 6000 a year, with SAGA as they are the only ones who give you unlimited days abroad. I find Lancaster, Graham Sykes, and Heritage are good.
