hi all

problem:
once the engine is nice and warm...all running fine...the kenlowe fan turns on/off according to temp when crawling in traffic or at a stop at idle....after around a minute of idling....the coolant mixture comes out(even tho fan is on) of the overflow pipe on the top of the expansion tank...after that the temp gauge rises frequently when driving and the fan remains on for a longer periods.
once i get back home ...let the engine idle and cool down...open the expansion tank cap with little coolant right at the bottom...its almost empty...open the radiator cap and see the coolant is about 1/2inch below the cap.

fil up as before....drive...stop idle a minute....expansion tank overflow at idle(with the kenlowe on).

did a radiator flush...external cleaning....only difference is temp rises very slowly...but the above mentioned problem continues :(

any ideas guys why?remedies?

thanks
Adi

Bled it all through properly to get rid of any air?

well...i did..actualy heres what i did...correct me if the procedure i followed is wrong...

start engine...warm it up...open radiator cap...top it up...close cap.

fil up expansion tank about an inch below cap....close cap...test drive...stop idle a min...switch off engine...start...30 sec later expansion tank coolant comes out of overflow pipe :(...

any ideas buster?

A few questions, why warm it up? Ye got a good chance of scaldin' yersel' and the system is pressurized!
An inch from the expansion tank cap? On mine the coolant only comes upto about half ways. There's a big dimple thing on top of the expansion tank, the coolant should 'roughly' cover the bottom of it.
When did ye last clean the radiator out? It might be that it's sittin' with a shed load of sludge in it.
Are the fins blocked with mud and dead insects etc ?
When did ye last do an oil change? Only reason ah'm askin' is that there might be sludge and old oil sittin' in the bottom of yer engine. If so, this can lead to the engine over heatin' and makin' the coolant boil.
Have you tested the thermostat?
Can't think of any more just now but might remember summit later on;):D

Just thought of summit... When ye fill it do ye squeeze all the coolant pipes to try and get some of the air out?;)
