I am confused after searching whether my 200tdi (defender version) has the right belts....I have posted in the General Land Rover section recently by current situaton. i.e. broken belt to alternator, crank, water pump....long belt....and the other belt is crank to PAS....short belt!

However most posts on LZ mention the belts run from the crank to the PAS to the Water Pump and the other belt runs from the crank to the Alternator? confused I am !:confused:

Which is correct for my 200tdi as I need to get it fixed tomorrow!
has someone bodged!
thanks

On my 200tdi the alernator belt( the bigger of the 2) runs to the water pump and the pas belt( the smaller one) is a separate entity, dont know if thats any help

short belt runs from crankshaft pulley to PAS pump.

Long Belt runs from crankshaft to alternator via waterpump.

Guys...perfect answers...I can go to bed and rest in peace. Thanks for the quick responses.. Just need to find the correct belt tomorrow. Will most likely change them both while I am at it!

Well, all sorted now and fitted....biggest pain was gettting the PAS/Crank belt on and off with limited tools in a car park....! Hope I didnt fry the Head when I drove it that 1 mile to get it off the road...the water was mighty hot, but the gauge didnt move much....
Thanks for all the help and comments again :)
