My W reg Freelander often gets condensation on the inside of the windscreen, so much that I have to use a cloth to wipe it away and it drips all over the dash. Is there anyway this can be overcome?

This certainly isn't normal and does indicate a problem somewhere.

I assume you have the fan running and this isn't just a build-up of damp from people being in the car, in addition I assume that you have got it set to fresh-air rather than recirculation?
If yes to both of the above then perhaps the carpets are wet which means the interior is always damp, is the pollen filter blocked restricting airflow, is the intake clear of debris?
 
I find the windows dont fog up so much when on the rare occasion its clean and tidy.remove all water bottles that may be dripping,try to dry the dog before he gets in and dry the inside of the glass with a chamois when they get condensation on them.The cold widows act as a dehumidifier .After a few times cleaning the damp off the windows,they stay dry alot longer.
Silicone spray the door seal rubbers to make them like new.
 
This is when I first get into the car, as for the fresh-air rather than recirculation, I shall have to check as well as the pollen filter . Carpets are all dry.

I left some bottles of water in the security box and within a few day the condensation had soaked the box and the windows were bad as well, took them out opened the windows and stuck the heater on full for a bit and once dried it's been fine since.

Sometimes I wish my heater worked.I have started (a few times) into removing the centre console to fix the heater position flap or mechanism,but for some reason gave up each time:doh:.Thats something I could have spent the day at.
Drove my vixens bumper car yesterday.Hot as a flippin oven and the fan werent even on,dial was turned to red.
 
I have found if you leave the heater direction knob pointing at you feet and not at the screen posistion it helps the with the condensation
 
if it is that bad then it sounds more like a leak on the windscreen or nearby, a case of searching around trying to find the source...
 
Boot security box on my Freelander has a hole right through the carpet and then through the skin of the vehicle! I think the previous owner had an amp fitted. Having to rip out, (carefully remove) the carpet to dry it, check metalwork and treat if needed, seal hole, restore luggage restraining rings and box lock + mechanism. Keeps me out of trouble!

I think the hole in the rear cubby was drilled to let the water out'
the rear door seals fail and the cubby fill with water

if you block it up you may find a pool of water in there next time you look

I have the same problem on my freelander s, it has no air con or recirculation facility fitted, carpets are all bone dry no leaks box in boot dry and have checked the rear vent is not covered with felt etc, and the pollen filter is new. Not so much a problem with the front windows but the back ones and is worse with a passenger in the car.
 
The cubby hole is dry as are carpets on ours but it still occurs too.
I placed a silica gel type dehumidifier block in the boot that I got from Aldi and it has certainly improved the issue .
 
check under the centre console from the passenger footwell. See if there are any damo bits there. Its known for the heater matrix to leak there.
